Our little bug

of course, I can’t update my blog and not also update what our little charlie jane looks like at 7 weeks. Yesterday I was at the studio for a photoshoot and I couldn’t bare to not also get some of little miss charlie. after 7 weeks, she’s been growing into her skin and those feet!

belly piccies!

I love being behind the camera. I live for it, but when it comes to me as the subject being photographed, I’d almost rather go to the dentist for a root canal. Almost….

Having someone take these for me was hard, I am really pretty shy, and it was most important for me to just be myself and comfortable, which is particularly difficult when you are the heaviest version of yourself you’ve ever been. Erin, my assistant photographer took these for me here in Tahoe yesterday. I had fun editing these, Erin, thank you so much, I love them! The last time Kevin and I had any real pictures taken of us was at our wedding almost 8 years ago! We were way overdue. I loved doing these with Kevin. I wanted us to celebrate every aspect of our baby together, from the maternity pictures to the baby shower. :)

now with my real camera

posting any images to my blog from my little point and shoot canon is not something I normally do, so I wanted to take the “real” pictures of the nursery and post those. I’ve been in my nesting mode, decorating with something new every week. I found this cute dress form when I went to visit my mom in Fresno, I’m using it to display all of the cute little hats I’ve gotten already. This child already has a closet full of adorable clothes and I haven’t even had a baby shower yet. I guess it’s easy to get carried away when it’s your first right? :)

I got so many adorable things at Naartjie. If you have children and have never shopped there before, you’re missing out on some of the most adorable and unique clothes! I got some beautiful things in there. These hats were some of my favorites.

until I can get some adorable pictures of her, I will put her name in her frame for now. :) daddy wants to start her roth ira about 2 minutes after she’s born, so the piggy bank will help her get started. oh how daddy will love talking to her about financial responsibility.

I love my bugaboo frog stroller. An investment to say the least, but well worth the $.

we’ll be putting some plantation shutters over the window to match the rest of the house, it’s just nice and open looking right now without any window treatment, but the shutters will finish it off beautifully.

I had to get a close up of my chandelier. I just love it. Ikea of all places, I loved it more than any I found anywhere else, and for $40 you just couldn’t get any better than that.

This has now become our doggies favorite room in the house. They love to just lay in here all 3 of them together. It’s so cute. I hope Charlie loves our puppies!

I will have some more fun images to post here very soon. A good friend of ours recently had a baby, and I have some newborn shots to do of her on Friday. Can’t wait for those, she’s such a beautiful little girl.

Hope everyone is enjoying superbowl weekend!

Back from Guatemala!

So I had the wonderful opportunity to go to Guatemala to photograph a wedding and I can’t even tell you how excited I am to post the images from the it, Kelly & Luis, you two are in for a real treat!! Friday, look for another heavy duty blog posting of images from the wedding!!! I’ve been cramming in some editing for you guys.

In the interim, I have some snapshots from our adventures before the wedding. We absolutely adored the city of Antigua which is about 45 minutes from Guatemala City. Literally meaning, “old city” it’s history is rich with culture. You can tell just from some of these pics what joy lurked around every corner. It was fantastic. The colors there are what inspired me to take so many. I love color and any chance I get to document beautiful textures, this was the time to do it.

beneath the streets is the Mercado, all the locals do all their shopping for everything from textiles & flowers to fresh fruits and vegatables and of course, fresh meat.

affectionately known as “chicken buses” these are retired school buses used in the states. each one is privately owned and decked out with exuberant colors and chromed out. they are crazy drivers though so we did not venture onto any chicken bus, i kept a safe distance and took pictures of them instead.

i love doors, and i really love texture, so of course i have an entire series of shots like this with various doors and colored walls. last year i made a calendar of doors like this from a wedding I did in St. John, the colors there were just as beautiful. I love doors :)

this is the inside of a catacombe from a church that was partially destroyed by a massive earthquake 200 years ago.

i desperately wanted to get a shot of a Mayan woman’s face while she walked with her load on her head. it’s amazing these women are so adapt to carrying heavy weight, perfectly balanced on their heads. i never once saw any of them drop it. they don’t like their pictures to be taken, so I made sure to respect their culture by not shooting them straight on.

I think I saw colors here I had never seen before. Is this the most beautiful shade of red ever??

New Year’s follow up…

the eye candy will say it all. I told you I would follow up with some rediculous pictures of our “Come as your favorite Rockstar” guitar hero party. I couldn’t come up with anything too clever, so I was my guitar hero character, Casey Lynch, and Kevin was (as if it’s not clear enough) Slash, from Guns and Roses.

i had more eye make up on that two dollar hooker. complete with glitter bearing fake lashes. sweet.

and i love this one of my rockstar husband rocking out with Erin! (my studio manager)
